The Fiscer – from the Trilogy: The Valley of the Uncanny Lovers, 2023 – 2026.

Mr. Fischer (2026) is the second chapter of Driant Zeneli’s film trilogy The Valley of the Uncanny Lovers, initiated in 2023. Set in Bergkamen, in Germany’s Ruhr region, the film explores the emotional relationships between humans, architecture, and technological infrastructures.

The story unfolds around a demolished residential high-rise that once defined the city’s landscape and collective memory. Through the voices of non-human elements—including biogas and Mr. Fischer, a character inspired by Artur Fischer’s revolutionary wall plug—the film transforms infrastructure into a poetic archive of human experiences.

Developed through a collaborative process with Bergkamen’s inhabitants, whose memories and love stories, they comment on Facebook who used as a raw material for the screenplay. The work reflects on attachment, memory, and the invisible bonds between people and the environments they inhabit.

Created in collaboration with the Film & Sound Department of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund, Mr. Fischer continues Zeneli’s investigation into the uncanny relationship between the human, the artificial, and the imagined.
